Patrick Kon

I am a 5th year Computer Science Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), working with Prof. Ang Chen. I am also a Student Researcher at Google Research.

I work on Language Model Agents, spanning post-training, building agent systems, synthetic data, and evaluation. I apply this across code generation (e.g., post-training at Meta with SWE-Protégé, IaC-Eval), scientific experimentation (e.g., EXP-Bench), and Cloud DevOps systems (e.g., SRE on production TPU infra at Google). I am also broadly interested in security and networking, where I’ve worked extensively on covert communications (e.g., SpotProxy).

I enjoy working alongside and mentoring undergrad/grad (non Ph.D.) students as well. Most of my ongoing and past projects have involved significant contribution from undergrad/grad students within and outside the US. Do reach out if you’d like to work with me!
